Best Tools to use in Labor

Hi Everyone! Here are our favorite tools to use to assist with pain and hip movement during labor. The more you can handle the pain & the more movement your hips can do- the better and faster your labor will be!

We carry all of these things with us when we do Birth Support for our Mama’s!!

To find these on Amazon- just click on the photo!

TENS Unit

This is super helpful to manage pain. You can find the best feeling setting for you. You can turn it up during contractions and down in between them. It is battery operated and easy to use!

Plus- you can use it before/after labor to help manage lower back pain and Sciatic Nerve pain.

Massage Gun

You need this for regular life- if we are honest. But you DEFINTIELY need this during pregnancy and labor. This tool can really help take the Zing out of a contraction and help you to manage the pain!

For Baby Daddy!

This is a box set of cards to help your partner determine what could be helpful to you during labor. It has massage techniques, counter pressure and movement options. This allows them to have something to try, or they can show you a card to see if you think it will be helpful.

Make sure you practice these things before labor!

Birth Comb

Squeeze this (or ice) during contractions to help distract you from the pain.

Heating Pad

This can help relax muscles and decrease your fight/flight response during a more seated or laying down rest time in active labor. You may find that the hospital is cold and you are sore from birth so it can also be helpful postpartum!

Essential oils

Most hospitals don’t let you diffuse. So get the roll-ons. Peppermint is super helpful for clearing the mind and helping you think as well as helping to clear brain fog.

Peanut Ball

This is super helpful in all stages of labor to open the pelvis and assist with baby’s descent!
